District 9 Town Hall With Councilmember Sean Elo-Rivera Set for November 14

San Diego residents are invited to a District 9 Town Hall with Councilmember Sean Elo-Rivera on Saturday, November 14, at 6 p.m. The in-person event will be held at the Partnership for the Advancement of New Americans (PANA) and bring together representatives from BikeSD, the Association of Pedestrian and Bicycle Professionals, Mid-City CAN, PANA and San Diego State University’s School of Public Affairs.

The discussion will explore urbanism, immigration, youth opportunities and community development, giving residents a chance to connect with Elo-Rivera and community organizations on issues shaping San Diego’s neighborhoods.

“San Diego’s District 9 has a lot happening right now: from increased ICE activity and displacement concerns to the Mid-City Communities Plan Update to efforts to make some of our most dangerous corridors safer and major changes at San Diego State University,” said BikeSD’s executive director and event moderator, Anar Salayev.

“That makes this an especially important time for citizens to come together, hear directly from Councilmember Sean Elo-Rivera, ask questions, and help shape how the district responds to changes that are already underway.”

Residents can register for the town hall and submit questions in advance.

Watch: District 3 Urbanist Town Hall

The event follows a town hall with District 3 Urbanist Town Hall with Councilmember Stephen Whitburn. Streetsblog produced four short videos from the event with some of the best questions and most interesting responses from the Councilmember:

Chloe Lauer, the Executive Director of the San Diego Bicycle Coalition asked about bringing bikeshare back to San Diego.

Ride SD Vice President Leif Gensert asks Whitburn for his thoughts on the Rapid 215.

Whitburn talks about the homeless problem downtown and how the city should take a multi-pronged approach

Salayev asks about “The Fork” intersection at El Cajon Blvd, Park Blvd, and Normal Street.
